Monticello man arrested twice in 24 hours for aggravated DWI

MONTICELLO –A Monticello man was arrested twice in 24 hours on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated.
At 9 p.m. on Friday, Monticello and State Police stopped Ivan Velasquez, 50, in Monticello driving in an erratic manner on Forestburg Road in Monticello where he was charged with DWI.  A chemical test administered at the police station showed a blood alcohol content of .21 percent, two ands  half times the legal limit.
Velasquez was charged with misdemeanor DWI and released on an appearance ticket.
At 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, Velasquez was stopped by Monticello officers
and troopers after he was observed driving the same vehicle in an erratic
manner on Forestburg Road again. He was arrested for DWI and a chemical
test showed his BAC was .27 percent, or more than three times the legal
limit.
After the second arrest, Velasquez was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
