Monticello man arrested twice for aggravated DWI in 24 hours

MONTICELLO –A Monticello man was arrested twice within a 24-hour
period on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated.

At 9 p.m. on Friday, Monticello and State Police stopped Ivan Velasquez,
50, in Monticello driving in an erratic manner on Forestburg Road in Monticello
where he was charged with DWI. A chemical test administered at the police
station showed a blood alcohol content of .21 percent.

Velasquez was charged with misdemeanor DWI and released on an appearance
ticket.

At 8:20 p.m. on Saturday, Velasquez was stopped by Monticello officers
and troopers after he was observed driving the same vehicle in an erratic
manner on Forestburg Road again He was arrested for DWI and a chemical
test showed his BAC was .27 percent.

Velasquez was then charged with aggravated DWI and remanded to the Sullivan
County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
