STONY POINT – Work is underway
to stabilize an embankment along the Cedar Pond Brook in Stony Point,
six years after Hurricane Irene washed it away.
Rockland County Executive Edwin Day said the $300,000 cost of the project will be covered by FEMA.
“The design was done in-house at a savings to our taxpayers by our engineers from the Rockland County Drainage Agency,” Day said, noting the kick-off meeting was held last week they have already started the process of submitting shop drawing for drainage agency review and approval. Wetlands, Inc. will start the physical work by the end of next month; no later than the first week of December.”
The project should be completed by next spring.
Should there be another Irene type storm, the work being performed will prevent flooding, erosion and danger to property and protect the residents of the area in Stony
