TOWN OF COCHECTON – Sullivan County will continue providing transfer station service to the residents of the Town of Cochecton and the western part of the county, Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez said.
In a letter to Supervisor Gary Maas, Alvarez said the county will now
assume the responsibility for snow removal at the site “to completely
eliminate any burdens created by the operation of this facility on the
town.”
Alvarez said that should the town “decide not to offer the service of a transfer station at the current facility, which sits on town property but is operated by the county, the residents of your community will have to access other county facilities operating elsewhere in Sullivan County.”
He said in the event the county can no longer operate the transfer station, the town” will be required to take possession of all responsibilities related to the abandoned landfill at the site.”
