POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man has been charged with grand larceny
and offering a false instrument for filing, both as felonies, for allegedly
collecting state unemployment insurance for which he was not entitled.

State Police allege Jose Merced, 33, collected $8,500 in unemployment
benefits from the state Department of Labor while he was gainfully employed.

He was committed to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail
