MARGARETVILLE – A wastewater service area study for the hamlet of Shokan in the Town of Olive is going to be funded by the Catskill Watershed Corporation. Chazen Companies of Poughkeepsie will perform the $7,500 study.
The study is the first step in developing a community wastewater system to be funded by New York City and coordinated by the Catskill Watershed Corporation. The study is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The board also approved two other resolutions to assist the Town of Olive. It gave the okay for a low-interest loan of $52,380 to replace a fuel oil furnace in the town highway garage with energy efficient propane-fired infrared heaters, and it awarded a $20,000 Sustainable Communities Program grant to identify new sites for the potential relocation of anchor businesses and residences out of the Boiceville floodplain.
