GOSHEN – In the four years that Orange County has be offering a voluntary separation program to eligible employees, the county has saved millions of dollars.
County Human Resources Commissioner Steven Gross told the Personnel and Compensation Committee of the county legislature on Monday that over 300 employees have taken advantage of the program, dozens this year alone.
“Eighty-three county employees took advantage of that incentive,” Gross said. “It is the fourth incentive that Orange County has done with 338 employees to date taking advantage of the incentives, which have saved taxpayers over $18 million over the course of four years.”
Over the four years of the program, the county’s workforce has dipped to 2,323.
