ELLENVILLE – What began as a verbal domestic dispute between a man and woman in Ellenville early Friday morning resulted in both parties being arrested on drug charges.
Ellenville Village Police said when they responded to the Village Motel on Route 209 at 4:25 a.m., they observed a vehicle trying to leave the scene. It was stopped and the driver, Elena Ostorga, 36, of Ellenville, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. She was issued an appearance ticket.
The man with whom she was reported to have argued, Christopher Bruce, 40, whose address is at the motel, fled into a room there as police arrived. Police learned he was in violation of an order of protection and when officers attempted to make contact with him, he refused to cooperate.
Bruce was finally taken into custody in the room where police seized 10 grams of packaged cocaine. He was charged with two felony counts of criminal contempt as aggravated family offenses and two felony counts of drug possession. He was sent to the Ulster County Jail without bail.
