CATSKILL – The New York State Bridge Authority is closing the sidewalk on the Rip Van Winkle Bridge three times this month for construction associated with the Hudson River Skywalk Project.
The sidewalk is closed now through October 13 at 4 p.m. Other closings are October 16 and 7 a.m. through October 20 at 4 p.m.; and October 23 at 7 a.m. through October 27 at 4 p.m.
The Skywalk is a $5.4 million project as part of the statewide infrastructure investment plan.
Pedestrians will not be able to cross the bridge via the sidewalk during those closure dates. They will have to turn around once they reach the construction site on the sidewalk and return to the side of the bridge from which they started.
Closure dates are weather dependent and more rain is expected this week.
