VILLAGE OF LIBERTY – A Bethel man was arrested on Monday after
he allegedly entered another man’s North Main Street, Liberty apartment
while he was sleeping and slashed the man on his hand.
Police learned of the attack when the victim, bleeding from the wound, walked into the Village of Liberty Police Station at around 5:30 a.m.
The suspect, Eric Solstein, 62, subsequently surrendered to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Solstein was charged with felony assault and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon and sent to the county jail
The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office recommended bail in the amount of $10,000 cash or bond, but Liberty Town Justice Harold Bauman set bail $7,500 cash bail or bond.
