NEW CITY – A Nanuet man pled guilty in Rockland County Court to
aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with the death of a man and
his wife.

On June 4 at about 5:12 p.m., Matthew Sindone, 24, was recklessly driving
a Lincoln MKT that crashed with a Toyota Camry after running through a
red light at the intersection of Route 304 and Goebel Road in New City.

Both Neil Block and his wife, Aline Block, were pronounced dead at the
scene.

Sindone suffered cuts to his head and was taken to Nyack Hospital where
Clarkstown Police officers recovered Xanax from his pocket.

He admitted to using Xanax and Klonopin in the hours before the fatal
crash and an analysis of his blood revealed a large amount of Xanax in
his blood at the time of the crash.

When sentenced in January 2018, Sindone faces up to four to 12 years in
state prison.
