Teen charged with attempted robbery of woman

TOWN OF WALLKILL – A 16-year-old youth is in custody after he allegedly
assaulted and attempted to rob a woman who was walking on Pilgrim Corners
Road in the Town of Wallkill.

On this past Tuesday afternoon, Wallkill Town Police investigated a report
of a robbery at 281 Route 211 East.

Detectives were led to Thomas Ferranti, 16, of Middletown, who was charged
in the September 17 attack on the woman. Ferranti allegedly demanded money
from the victim and struck her in the face when she refused. She suffered
bruising from the assault.

Ferranti was charged with attempted robbery, assault and attempted petit
larceny.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $10,000
cash bail or $20,000 bond.
