LIBERTY – A father and son are under arrest following an investigation into a one-pound package of marijuana arriving at the Federal Express facility in the Town of Newburgh.
On Wednesday the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Homeland Security Investigations that it had intercepted a package with the drug. It had arrived by airplane and was addressed to a business in Liberty.
At about 11:20 a.m., sheriff’s deputies along with Village of Liberty Police and Homeland Security agents conducted a controlled delivery at the Willy Works Corp car repair shop at 2035 Route 52 in Liberty.
Vincent Corigliano, 70, of Livingston Manor signed for the package and was taken into custody. Deputies then executed a search warrant at the shop, which led to the arrest of Vincent’s son, Curtis Corigliano, 31, also of Livingston Manor. In addition to the marijuana, police recovered an unlicensed handgun.
Vincent Corigliano was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and released on his own recognizance. Curtis Corigliano was charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana and misdemeanor conspiracy. He was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
An investigator and K-9 from the URGENT Task Force assisted with the interception of the package.
