Owner of Newburgh building charged with torching it

NEWBURGH – A Peekskill man is charged with setting fire to a building he owns at 435 Broadway in the City of Newburgh. The structure houses a business called Ahorra Ahora Market Plate.
The fire occurred on September 22 and was investigated as arson. City police and fire with assistance from Westchester County Police Department detectives using an arson-certified K-9 led to the arrest of Jesus Cruz, 43, of Peekskill. He was charged with felony arson and sent to the Orange County Jail without bail.
The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call Newburgh City Police at 845-561-3131.
