LIVINGSTON – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two Greenport residents in connection with a burglary in the Town of Livingston.
Shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a suspicious vehicle that had just left a residence on Route 9G in Livingston. The owner of the residence contacted 911 after returning home and finding the vehicle in the driveway.  The owner provided police with a description of the vehicle and license plate number that led deputies to locating it in the Village of Philmont.
The investigation revealed that Brock Miles, 27, and Katherine Hopper, 30, both of Greenport, entered the home and had stolen items. Their two-year-old child was left in the vehicle when they committed the burglary. All of the stolen property was recovered.
Miles and Hopper were charged with felony burglary and petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child, both as misdemeanors. Hopper was also charged in Philmont with tampering with physical evidence as a felony and misdemeanors of resisting arrest, criminal possession of drugs and criminal mischief.  Both suspects were sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office. A report was made to and accepted by the Child Abuse Hotline regarding the child.
