Yonkers police officer shot in the face released from hospital

YONKERS – A Yonkers Police officer was treated after she was shot in the face when officers responded to the vicinity of Marshall Road at Ridge Drive Monday night on a complaint of a suspicious vehicle occupied by two people.
When she arrived on the scene, one of the suspects pulled a firearm and started shooting at the officers. The officers returned fire.
 Officer Kayla Maher, 29, a two-year veteran of the force, sustained a gunshot wound to her jaw. She was transported to a local hospital and was listed in serious but stable condition. She was released from the hospital on Tuesday.
Two suspects were arrested at the scene. One was transported to a hospital for gunshot wounds and is in serious but stable condition.
Both suspects are said to be from New Rochelle.  Police said no other suspects are sought at this time.
A .40 caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
