LAGRANGE – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning when a car crossed into the opposite lane on Route 55 near Mandalay Drive in the Town of LaGrange and struck the cycle.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reported that at about 7:30 a.m. a Mazda driven by Judith Meredith, 57, of Poughkeepsie, crossed into the path of the motorcycle and after striking it, re-entered her lane and struck a Toyota operated by Brandon Farias, 23, of Poughkeepsie.
The motorcyclist, whose name police did not immediately release pending notification of relatives, died at the scene.
Meredith was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Farias was uninjured.
Police said as of late yesterday, no charges had been filed.  They also said driver fatigue appears to be a likely contributing factor to the crash.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office and the LaGrange Fire Department. The investigation is continuing by members of the sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit.
