HILLSDALE – The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an assault just before 9 p.m. on Saturday in which two men fought with one being injured.
Deputies were called to the Hillsdale Garden Apartments on Route 22 in the Town of Hillsdale where one man was assaulted by a firearm, although no one was struck. The injured man was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for treatment of a head injury.
The investigating is ongoing with Sheriff David Bartlett saying he does not believe there is any threat to the community at this time.
Assisting at the scene were State Police, Philmont Police, Community Rescue Squad and Greenport Rescue Squad. Also assisting at the scene was the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
