MONTICELLO – Eight suspects,
including four Sullivan County residents, are in the county jail without
bail, after an arrest sweep Monday night.

They were rounded up following an investigation dubbed “Operation
Jersey Boyz” because of links to urban New Jersey at the other end
of a heroin pipeline that pumped an estimated 12,000 bags of the drug
into Sullivan County.

Over 7,100 bags were seized, along with paraphernalia, including several
cell phones.

D.A. Farrell: “This is a major, major hit…”

Most of what was seized was brought in by ‘middle men’ said
District Attorney James Farrell. They were selling it in large quantities,
up to 200 bags at a time, mostly to locals who in turn were selling individual
bags to end users.

“This is a major, major hit to the supply here in Sullivan County,”
Farrell said.

“Operation Jersey Boyz” was a joint investigation by the Sullivan
County District Attorney’s Office, the New York State Police Community
Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), and other federal, state and local
law enforcement at the municipal level in Sullivan County and Essex County,
New Jersey.
