STEWART AIRPORT – When Hurricane Irma hit Florida last week, thousands of residents were told to evacuate their homes.
Jet Blue Airways, a popular airline flying to Florida, was also impacted. The airline parked several planes at Stewart Airport, said Manager Ed Harrison.
“Jet Blue used us to park 10 to 15 aircraft here for a few days as they had to evacuate those airports in Florida to take them out of harm’s way,” he said. Jet Blue flies from Fort Lauderdale and Orlando daily to the Newburgh area airport.
Stewart collected landing and parking frees and refueled the planes.
