Pilot unhurt in light plane crash near Tuxedo

Several emergency units responded

TOWN OF TUXEDO – A single-engine biplane went down at about 1:20 p.m. on Friday in a swampy area between Old Route 17 and the Thruway in the Town of Tuxedo.
The pilot, Dana Hague, 57, of Clinton, Connecticut, was flying from Connecticut to Warwick, New York when he spotted smoke coming from the nose of the aircraft.  He made an emergency landing in a field off Route 17 in the area of Arden Road in Tuxedo. He was uninjured.
A witness told police he believed the plane suffered some form of mechanical failure.
Troopers are investigating and the FAA was notified.
