MONTICELLO – A Livingston Manor man was sentenced in Sullivan County Court to 10 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision for a residential burglary.
Jason Huebsch, 32, pled guilty to felony burglary and admitted to burglarizing a home in the Town of Liberty in January. Jewelry and cash were stolen while the owner was not at home.
Huebsch was arrested following an investigation by State Police; a portion of the stolen jewelry was recovered. He was sentenced as a second felony offender having a prior felony possession of marijuana conviction in 2006.
District Attorney James Farrell said burglary is down by over 53 percent since 2013, for which he credits an aggressive law enforcement approach to the decrease.
“All of the police agencies in Sullivan County are doing everything within their power to apprehend these criminals and my office is aggressively prosecuting these cases to make sure burglars are incapacitated in state prison and cannot victimize someone else,” Farrell said.
The DA said the word is out “… that if you commit a home burglary in Sullivan County and get caught your next home is likely to be a prison cell.”
