NEWBURGH – One week after the City of Middletown cut the ribbon on its new skateboard park, the City of Newburgh on Friday held a ceremonial groundbreaking for its new skateboard park. The facility will be constructed adjacent to the parking lot near a jungle gym on a grassy area.

State Senator William Larkin, who secured a portion of the funding for
the $650,000 facility, noted it will be part of a recreation complex.
There is also the Delano-Hitch Stadium with sports activities, the Armory across the street to emphasis recreation and education.
“We put all of these together to make it available for young people to think about the positive things in life rather than the negative – drugs, crime and stuff like that,” Larkin said.
The idea of a Newburgh skateboard park was first advanced some eight years ago.
