Ms. Van Wagner chatted with Molinaro back in May 2010

POUGHKEEPSIE – Rhinebeck resident Vera Van Wager, believed to be the oldest New Yorker, died on Friday, Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro said.
She was 113.
In May 2014, Van Wagner told Mid-Hudson News the secret to her longevity was “being happy and in love.”
“Vera often attended the Dutchess County Office for the Aging’s annual Celebration of Aging, where she was an inspiration to all in attendance,” Molinaro said.  “As Dutchess County’s oldest resident, Vera led a remarkable life and was witness to more than a century of history. A treasured friend and loved one to so many, Vera leaves a legacy of dignity, grace and a life well-lived.”
