MONTICELLO – “We’re on the right track,” said Jay Quaintance, now formally installed as SUNY Sullivan’s president.
Quaintance told the county legislature’s Government Services Committee on Thursday that when the fall semester began, they were about 1.5 percent above their target of a three percent increase in enrollment over last year.
A new vice president of academic and student affairs was named for the new year, and a new position was created – assistant dean for enrollment services.
Quaintance said all of this points to one goal.
“We’re all going to be looking at our retention efforts to make sure that once we get the student, we keep them all the way through to graduation.”
Students have one thing keeping them busy. They have organized their own fundraising and collection effort for hurricane victims.
And, Quaintance noted, the four-time NJCAA Division III national basketball champion Generals, recruited a 6’7” player, perhaps giving some hope of reliving past glory.
