Officials study the possibilities

KINGSTON – Kingston Mayor Steve Noble introduced developers who have expressed interest in building a new hotel and parking garage complex at 21 North Front Street, straddling the Uptown Stockade business district.
The plan, which is not finalized, has The Kingstonian as a working title, named after an old hotel which once existed at the site of a current warehouse. JM Development Group LLC, with members Patrick Page, Joseph Jr. and Michael Bonura, together with Brad Jordan of Herzog Supply Co. Inc., wish to partner with the city for the Uptown Revitalization Project.
No price tag, square footage, or completion date has been set. Mayor
Noble wishes to include community stakeholders into the planning process.
A working concept includes municipal parking and other components, said
Joseph Bonura, Jr.
“We are looking at providing, hopefully, some hotel space as well, to the Uptown Kingston area,” Bonura said on Thursday. “The project would also include luxury housing and a pedestrian walkway.
A former parking garage on the same site was previously demolished due to structural problems at the site. The area is currently a municipal parking lot, with Uptown Kingston plagued by insufficient parking capacity, and rising parking fee rates.
The Bonura family is no stranger to this type of development. They own
the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel and parking garage, the Grandview on the
Hudson, Water Club apartments in Poughkeepsie and Anthony’s Pier
Nine catering hall in New Windsor.
