Arrests made in Saugerties baseball bat attack

SAUGERTIES – Four men were arrested on Thursday and charged in connection the baseball bat attack on a 32-year-old Rhinebeck man that occurred at 20 Mayfield Estates in the Town of Saugerties.
Police were called to the scene at about 5:11p.m. on Wednesday, August 30 where they found the victim lying on the ground, semi-conscious, bleeding from his face and head. He was airlifted to MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie for treatment.
Saugerties Police obtained video of the attack and identified the assailants as Vincent Neglia, 31; Russel Neglia, 22; and Travis Gonzalez, 22, all of Saugerties.
They were each charged with felonies of robbery, gang assault, assault and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon. Vincent Neglia was also charged with felonies of robbery, gang assault and assault.  All three men were sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail each.
Further investigation led police to arrest Vincent Neglia, Sr., 63, of Saugerties. Police alleged he gave the order to have the victim beaten. As a result, he was charged with felony criminal liability for conduct of another/assault. He was jailed in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
Saugerties Police were assisted in the investigation by State Police Forensic Investigation Unit, Town of Ulster Police and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
