SINGAPORE – U.S. Navy and Marine Corps divers have now recovered the remains of all ten USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) Sailors.
Among them, Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Corey Ingram, 28, from Poughkeepsie.
The McCain was involved in a collision with the merchant vessel in waters east of Singapore on August 21. The incident is under investigation to determine the facts and circumstances of the collision.
“We are deeply saddened to learn Dutchess County native Corey George Ingram died earlier this week while serving our country in the United States Navy aboard the USS John S. McCain,” said Duchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro in a statement released after Ingram’s death was confirmed. “Corey is an American hero who admirably defended his nation, selflessly giving of himself to protect his neighbors here in Dutchess and throughout America.
Molinaro ordered flags on all county offices to be lowered to half-staff.
Poughkeepsie Mayor Robert Rolison also ordered flags on city buildings to half-staff. “Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with his family and friends as they along  with all of us mourn the loss of this great American and hero,” said Rolison.
