BETHEL – Due to a lifeguard shortage said to be regional, Lake Superior State Park’s beach in Bethel will see its operational hours altered as the season comes to an end.
The beach will not be open on August 27, 28, 29, and 31. That includes swimming and rentals of rowboats and paddleboats. The beach, swimming, rowboating and paddleboating will be open and available on August 22-26, 30 and September 1-3.
The park itself will remain open even on days when the beach is closed. People will be able to picnic, fish, hike and use the facilities.
Lifeguard shortages are not unusual in very late summer, as students head back to school or college.
