MIDDLETOWN – The FBI’s white-collar crime unit paid a visit
to Dolson Avenue Chiropractic on Dolson Avenue in the City of Middletown
today.

The office was closed and two physical therapy aides stopped people as
they drove into the parking lot to ask if they were there for an appointment
and if so, they were informed that the office was closed for the day.
When asked why, a motorist was told they were taking care of some business
inside.
An Orange County Sheriff’s patrol car was parked in front of the
office with a deputy standing guard outside. Capt. Scott Hamill said the
department was assisting the FBI at that location.
In addition to the FBI, investigators from the Department of Health and
Human Services’ Inspector General’s Office were on the scene.

The FBI has not returned phones call for comment and there was no answer
on the company’s business number.

The FBI’s website defines white-collar crime as being “synonymous
with the full range of frauds committed by business and government professionals.
These crimes are characterized by deceit, concealment, or violation of
trust and are not dependent on the application or threat of physical force
or violence. The motivation behind these crimes is financial—to
obtain or avoid losing money, property, or services or to secure a personal
or business advantage.”

It was emphasized by Hamill that there was no suggestion of any wrongdoing
by Dolson Avenue Chiropractic.
