NEW CITY – Rockland County officials ceremonially broke ground on Monday for a new backup radio communications room.
The 3,500-square foot, $3 million center is being built behind the sheriff’s office in New City. It will do everything the county’s primary radio room at the fire training center in Pomona can do including 911 calls, calls for State Police, calls for EMS, and maintaining the entire infrastructure of the county public safety emergency radio system.
The Indian point emergency siren system can be managed from the backup location.
Construction is expected to be completed in the spring.
