POUGHKEEPSIE – The Neighborhood Recovery Unit and Emergency Services Unit of City of Poughkeepsie Police have arrested a Poughkeepsie man on charges of drug and weapon possession.
Investigators executed a search warrant at 64 Lent Street on Monday, August 14 and arrested Jarmond Pittman, 41, of that address. He was charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Police seized just under 41 ounces – over 1.1 kilograms – of cocaine, two loaded .45 caliber handguns, three vehicles, more than $20,000 in cash, and several articles used in the distribution of controlled substances.
Pittman was sent to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
Captain Richard Wilson said this investigation led to one of the largest seizures of cocaine in the history of the Poughkeepsie City Department. “The arrest and seizure in this case should not only temporarily disrupt the flow of cocaine to our streets, but help restore calm and stability to the immediate area,” Wilson said. “Finally, two handguns in the hands of a convicted felon will not be involved in the furtherance of violence in our city.”
