KINGSTON – An Ellenville woman was arrested by Ulster County authorities on charges of welfare fraud and grand larceny for collecting $22,263 in welfare benefits to which she was not entitled.
County Executive Michael Hein said the arrest of America De Jesus on August 3 was in keeping with the county’s zero-tolerance anti-fraud, waste and abuse program.
De Jesus was charged with felonies of welfare fraud, grand larceny, and five counts of offering a false instrument for filing.  Investigators determined she failed to report income from June 2011 to April 2017 resulting in her receiving $5,651 in Medicaid funding, $11,601 in SNAP benefits, and $5,011 in HEAP benefits.
She was processed and released to appear in Ulster Town Court at a future date.
