KINGSTON – A Red Hook man was sentenced in Ulster County Court to 1 1/3 to four years in state prison for his conviction to the charge of scheme to defraud.
Lance Lavender, 57, was also ordered to pay restitution of $105,800 to two victims.
Lavender conned a local Ulster County woman into giving him money by claiming he was a financial expert and realtor who could help her consolidate her debt and manage her financial affairs. Unbeknownst to the woman, Lavender also defrauded her elderly father by claiming his daughter urgently needed financial assistance.
