POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man pled guilty in Dutchess County Court to felony criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Jason Brewster faces 10 years in state prison when sentenced next month, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said.
During a joint investigation by state and Dutchess County law enforcement Brewster initially sold over 260 grams of heroin with a street value of over $16,000 to an informant. Between October 2015 and February 2016, Brewster made more sales to the informant. He sold heroin on a regular basis out of his house where children were present, and in other locations in and around Poughkeepsie, including near S.F.B. Morse Magnet School at 101 Mansion Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.
Brewster was apprehended on May 23 after a 15-month manhunt when he returned to his home and was captured by law enforcement who had been conducting surveillance there.
The investigation was conducted by the Attorney General’s Organized Crime Task Force, State Police Special Investigations Unit and Dutchess County Drug Task Force.
