KINGSTON – The second quarter report of Ulster County Government’s finances demonstrates that “financial competence remains healthy,” County Comptroller Elliott Auerbach said Monday.
He said five categories were analyzed – fund balance, operating deficits, cash position, short term debt, and fixed costs – and “they appear to indicate the county has remained stable while operating within a complex set of fiscal constraints.”
Auerbach also said the report looked at environmental indicators.
“Changes in population, changes in employment, changes in sales tax receipts, and right now the snapshot report shows we are and continue to be consistently healthy,” he said.
Auerbach said efficiencies in government and one-shot cash infusions like the sale of the Golden Hill nursing home helped the county maintain its solid financial position.
