KINGSTON – An Ellenville man was indicted by an Ulster County grand jury on Monday on two charges accusing Jean Carlos Colon, 23, of felony rape and burglary, both as violent offenses. Colon is charged with breaking into a home in the early morning hours of June 23 and forcibly raping a woman, who had been sleeping in her bed.
The indictment follows an investigation by Ellenville Police with assistance from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, State Police Forensic Identification Unit and Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
Colon was arrested in May for another forcible sex crime against a different victim in Ellenville, but both felony and misdemeanor charges arising out of that incident were dismissed by a previous grand jury.
