SLOATSBURG – The Rockland
County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a man’s
body in the Ramapo River in the Eleanor Burlingham Memorial County Park,
a 45-acre nature preserve in Sloatsburg, County Executive Edwin Day announced
Tuesday.

Because the area is in the park, which is county property, the sheriff’s
office is handling the investigation of what day called a “tragic
drowning.”

Police know the man’s identity, but have not yet made it public.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.” Day said.
