Kleiman

LAKE KATRINE – It has been nine years since Michael Kleiman’s body was found in his burned out pickup truck at the former Hudson Cement Plant property off Route 32 in East Kingston.
The death was ruled a homicide, but despite tracking down numerous leads, the killer has not been brought to justice. Ulster Police are continuing to investigate and are seeking the public’s help.
Kleiman, 59, was last seen in the afternoon of Thursday, July 24, 2008 in Kerhonkson and the following day around 2:45 p.m., police responded to a vehicle fire in a wooded area and that’s when they found his remains in the cab of the truck.
Klein lived alone and led a quiet lifestyle, authorities said. He worked as a nurse’s aide at a children’s hospital in Westchester County and had interests in attending antique auctions and antique stores in Ulster, Orange and Westchester counties. He also frequented area swimming hopes in Ulster County.
Town Police continue to investigate the murder with State Police and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities are interested in information from anyone who may have made observations of someone displaying any of the following behaviors immediately after July 25, 2008: Unscheduled absence from work; missing scheduled appointments; abrupt departure from the area, either temporarily or permanently; increased use of alcohol or drugs; or abnormal interest in media coverage of this murder and the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the detective division of Ulster Town Police at 845-382-1111 or the tipline at 845-336-3784. Persons may also send an email from the police website at www.UlsterPolice.com or communicate by mail at 1 Town Hall Drive, Lake Katrine, NY 12449.
