CARMEL – The state is restoring veterans’ services office hours to Putnam County, following a May termination of the availabilities by the state Division of Veterans Affairs.
Starting today, the state will hold office hours on Mondays and Fridays
with veterans able to make an appointment by calling 888-838-7697.
County Executive MaryEllen Odell worked with Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney (D, NY-18) to convince the state to resume the service.
“That will go back to the way it was and that is part of making sure that veterans in Putnam County, Northern Westchester and Southern Dutchess County have an office they can go to get the state services they have earned,” Maloney said. The congressman’s office also provides veterans’ counseling services.
The service is being restored following an appeal of the state decision to shut it down.
