PLEASANT VALLEY – Two women were arrested after they were found unresponsive and not breathing inside a vehicle in a garden apartment parking lot on Route 44 in Pleasant Valley. A child was in the car at the time police arrived around 2:50 p.m. on Jul y19.
Both women were suspected of suffering the effects of an opioid overdose and were administered Narcan. The 1 ½-year-old child, sweating profusely, was immediately removed from the vehicle. He was turned over to a family member following discharge from the hospital.
It took one dose of Narcan to revive Jennifer Lasko, 40, of Pleasant Valley, but five doses to revive Tamara Ward, 38, of Poughkeepsie. Both women were taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital for evaluation.
The investigation revealed Ward had driven from Poughkeepsie to Pleasant valley while under the influence of heroin.
Ward was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law as a felony, and misdemeanors of criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child. Lasko was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Ward was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.  Lasko was issued an appearance ticket to town court.
