MIDDLETOWN – The Unisol Soccer facility in Middletown will now move forward as the city’s common council gave the final approval for the project this week.
The plans call for year-round activities and other features, said Mayor Joseph DeStefano.
“They are going to have both indoor and outdoor soccer facilities, 14 apartments, some commercial space and we are also cooperating with them for a consolidated funding application for the next round, which is coming up in a couple of weeks,” DeStefano said. “Hopefully they will be competitive in that process and be able to get immediate financing of the project if that is the case.”
The project will be developed at Franklin and Union streets near the city’s skateboard park, which is under construction.
