NEWBURGH – St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital has been awarded $8 million as part of the state plan to protect and transform the Mid-Hudson region’s healthcare system.
The SLCH grant is one of 10 in the region. The other nine:

Bethel Nursing Home Company – $2.5 million
Cornerstone Family Healthcare – $3.75 million
The Institute for Family Health – $1.9 million
Montefiore Health System (SLCH is an affiliate) – $65 million
Open Door Family Medical Center – $3.7 million
Ulster Home Care – $490,000
Visiting Nurse Association of Hudson Valley – $1.2 million
Westchester Institute for Human Development – $377,000
White Plains Hospital Medical Center –  $7.5 million

State Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-Yonkers) said, “Encouraging more New Yorkers to avoid costly, time-consuming, and often unnecessary tips to an emergency room by investing in other medical facilities is a common sense way to improve patient care.”
She said using state funds for primary care, mental health, and substance abuse needs “will streamline the health care process, provide communities with better services, and save money.”
