WASHINGTON – Callers to Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney’s telephone town hall session Wednesday night expressed concern about the future of healthcare in the US.
Republicans in Washington, led by the president, maintain Obamacare is dead and should be scrapped immediately.
Democrat Maloney (NY18) does not buy into that.
“Of all the crazy things that have been said on this whole healthcare
issue,” the congressman said. “Maybe the craziest is that
Obamacare is in a death spiral. It is not. There are real problems with
the Affordable Care Act in some places and what we are talking about,
so people understand, is we are talking about people in the individual
insurance market, not the employer-based market.”
Maloney said the current legislation should be tweaked. “Don’t throw out the baby with the bathwater,” he told the caller.
