MIDDLETOWN – A man on federal probation refused to let probation officers into his home at 8 Randall Terrace in Middletown Tuesday afternoon when they showed up for a routine check.
When the federal officers came to his home, John Hicks, 31, fled inside and refused to allow the officers to enter.
The officers contacted Middletown Police and requested assistance. They set up a perimeter around the home and established telephone contact with Hicks to negotiate his surrender.
Out of an abundance of caution, the State Police Special Operations Response
Team was called in.
At about 5 p.m., Hicks walked out of the house and surrendered without incident.
He was transported to Middletown Police headquarters and later transferred to the custody of United States Probation. He was charged with a violation of his federal probation.
