Eight people displaced when fire damages Arlington home

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Eight occupants of a house at 294 Spackenkill Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie escaped unharmed when the second floor of their single-family residence caught fire.
The Arlington Fire Department declared the fire under control 15 minutes after arrival.  The structure sustained moderate heat, smoke and water damage.
There were no injuries and the cause of the two-alarm fire was determined to be accidental and caused by failure of electrical distribution equipment, said Fire Chief Tory Gallante.  The Red Cross assisted the occupants.
Assisting at the scene were the New Hamburg Fire Department, Mobile Life Support Services, Town of Poughkeepsie Police and Building Department, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response and Central Hudson Gas and Electric.  The New Hackensack, Pleasant Valley and Wappingers Falls fire departments were on standby.
