KINGSTON – A hamlet of Wallkill man faces 10 years in state prison
when sentenced in September in connection with his guilty plea in Ulster
County Court to felony burglary.
Hans Apelles, 19, broke into a house in the Town of Shawangunk this past
February 8 and stole two loaded firearms among other items. He then sold
the firearms for heroin.
Apelles was familiar with the family he burglarized, who had tried to
help him with his addiction.
“This is a classic and sad example of one of the two things that
heroin addiction leads to. The other is death,” said District Attorney
Holley Carnright.
