You can’t have a German Fest without good food

PUTNAM VALLEY – The sounds of the ‘um-pa-pa” band, old fashioned Bavarian and Austrian food accompanied by camaraderie and friendship highlighted a weekend German Fest that attracted hundreds of men, women and children to the German-American Social Club in Putnam Valley.
Gerald Schramek of Southeast, a long-time member of the non-for-profit that promotes German culture, was thrilled with the turnout on Sunday. “Everyone is enjoying the food, festivities and frolic. Even the weatherman cooperated this year.”
As for the food, just thinking of wienerschnitzel, sauerbraten, bratwurst and other such delicacies brought you right back to the homeland.
Schramek reminded the public about the cultural group’s next event – Oktoberfest – planned for September 9 and 10 at the club’s headquarters on Kramers Pond Road.
