MONTICELLO – Sullivan County will ask the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for intervenor status in the Eastern System Upgrade project proposed by the Millennium Pipeline Company, which includes a 22,400-horsepower compressor station in the Town of Highland.
If the status is granted, the county would have the right to participate in hearings and other FERC proceedings related to the project.
Millennium wants to build the compressor station off Route 55 north of
Eldred, as well as other upgrades to its existing natural gas transmission
line elsewhere.
The county legislature is asking FERC’s permission to formally participate in the process.
