WAWAYANDA – A crash between
a dump truck and an SUV in Wawayanda minutes before 6 a.m. on Wednesday
claimed the life of a Highland Lake, New Jersey teen.
State Police said a 2009 Toyota RAV4 driven by Andrew Van Dyke, 17, was
traveling north on Orange County Route 93 when it failed to yield the
right of way and struck a 2005 Peterbilt dump truck traveling west on
State Route 284.
Van Dyke was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, Jeremey Hermida, 28, was taken to Orange Regional
Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill for evaluation.
The investigation is continuing.
